Phantom Wallet, the leading Web3 wallet within the Solana ecosystem, is reportedly experiencing downtime, adding to the series of disruptions observed on the Proof-of-Stake (PoS) layer-1 blockchain network recently.
Phantom Wallet Downtime: Key Details Reports from members of the Solana and Phantom Wallet communities indicate that the browser version of the wallet is currently unable to display submitted transactions. Moreover, users attempting transactions through Phantom Wallet are encountering difficulties without clear error messages or guidance. While numerous users have confirmed the outage affecting Phantom Wallet, it appears that not all users are experiencing the same level of disruption. While some users are unable to access their accounts or complete transactions, others have reported successful transactions within the past few hours. Independent Crypto Journalist Colin Wu shared a screenshot displaying a “no data” message on the browser wallet’s overview page, indicating the issue. Despite the widespread reports, Phantom Wallet has not officially acknowledged the outage, suggesting that the downtime may not be affecting all users uniformly. Phantom Wallet has previously faced downtime incidents, including a Distributed Denial of Service (DDoS) attack in February, resulting in temporary halts to transactions and services. Given its reliance on the Solana blockchain, such incidents are not uncommon.
Addressing Solana’s Ongoing Downtime Challenges As Solana continues to grow both as a network and as the native currency SOL gains prominence, the Solana Foundation is actively exploring solutions to mitigate recurring downtime issues. One proposed solution involves implementing priority fee payment as a standard feature for applications on the network. Additionally, new design strategies aim to optimize total compute units (CU) usage, increasing the network’s transaction throughput and scalability. While Solana shows promise, unresolved downtime issues could hinder its ability to surpass Ethereum in the long run, according to experts.
